Hey y'all,
I know that my dominant instinct is Intimate/Sexual, but I'm having trouble figuring out what my secondary instinct is.
As I understand it (please correct me if I'm wrong), Social's main concern is sacrifice for the sake of fitting in with a group, and Self-preservation's is maximizing material and bodily security for the sake of overdosing on material novelty, if you will.
To give a bit of background, I am a devout Catholic, and I know religiosity is usually associated with the Social subtype, and I do enjoy helping others who make me happy because it makes me feel good about myself and creates a "feedback loop" of positivity. When I am emotionally supportive, I give the other person one chance to feel better; if it doesn't work, I look to make a quick and convenient exit. In high school (and now in college) I was overly preoccupied with fitting in and being popular, probably because of the intimacy with large numbers of people that results from popularity.
On the other hand, I have a strong independent streak and although I appreciate it when people help me or give me gifts, it also makes me uncomfortable because then I feel indebted to them, which I really hate. I also worry about making enough money to live comfortably, and have historically been wary of risking endangering my bodily health.
Although I do have very good self-control and am very strict about living my life the way the Church requires, the fact that my first instinct is indulgence makes me think that I am sx/sp. For what it's worth, I have tests and gotten both results.
Is any of this revealing one way or another?
Thanks
