Default Cheap ideas to cover a ceramic flat stovetop when the burners are still hot?

Worried about the kitty jumping up there after I finish cooking/the burner’s still hot. Thinking it’s the countertop (which he shouldn’t be on, either) & burning his poor feets.

Most stove covers are the huge metal kind that would scratch a glass stovetop. The ones for glass/ceramic stove tops I’ve found are all made of fabric & are only for once the stove has cooled. So, useless for my purrposes.

Any ideas? Trying to avoid metal & facbric.

no idea but daisy never gets on the stove and i have a ceramamic flat top she does get on the counter though, so maybe if he does it once he'll never do it again. hahahaha maybe not he might be a sadist and like the pain, have you found any whips or chains hidden (about kitty size)?
    In no likes experiment.

    that is all

i dunno what else to say so :hi:

Close the cats from the kitchen until the stove cools. It's work, but it's a measure you can take till you can buy proper covers for it.

Actually there was a trick that I used to do, whenever your done cooking on the stove, get a pot and fill it with ice cold water and set it over the still hot burner. It will cool it faster.

Nope, never found any kitty BDSM gear around here.
I imagine he would never do it again, if he were to burn himself once, but I very much want to prevent that from happening at all. Burns to his feet would be pretty serious/take furever to heal, and cost massive amounts of money in vet care.

The stove in question is at a new place my roommate & I are moving to within the next month or so, if everything stays on-track. Your idea is good, but not viable for this new place, as the kitchen & living room are “open concept” - there’s no wall splitting the two rooms. Just a 20-someodd-ft open space. Hoping to get something for the stove before the move date, just trying to plan ahead.

    Thanks for the suggestion, though.

Genius! Hopefully I find something before the move, but this could work in a pinch.
