I like black cats in general, and I enjoyed the comparison between domestic and wild. (I tried a mention, but for some reason, you are one of those users that the feature doesn't cooperate with. Hence the quote.)

I'd say my favorite member of Panthera, though, would be the tiger. They are one of the few cats that enjoy the water:

Etymology

The Greek pan- (πάν), meaning "all", and thēr (θήρ), meaning "prey" bears the meaning of "predator of all animals".

Other Use of the Term Panther: Mythical Beasts

A Panther is a creature out of ancient legend that resembles a big cat with a multicoloured hide.

Under medieval belief, after feasting, the panther will sleep in a cave for a total of three days. After this period ends, the panther roars, in the process emitting a sweet smelling odor. This odor draws in any creatures who smell it (the dragon being the only creature immune), they are eaten by the panther, and the cycle begins again.

The ancient Greeks believed the panther was one of the favored mounts of the god Dionysus.
Other names for this creature are pantera, pantere, and love cervere.

Mostly drawn as a type of cat, the panther was at times depicted in other forms. It was depicted as a donkey, as a composite creature with a horned head, long neck and a horse's body, and as a host of other forms. (The word "panther", in Greek, could be interpreted as "every wild beast", supporting the idea of a composite creature.) This was mostly because those involved did not know what a panther should look like; but, in some instances, this was due to cultural influences. In Germany in particular, the panther is often depicted in heraldry as a creature with four horns, cow's ears and a fiery red tongue. An example of the former is the flag and coat of arms of the city of Cres, Croatia.

Another thing I like about tigers is the diverse range of habitats they live in. Everyone thinks of them as jungle creatures, but they also like snowy areas.

The Eurasian or European Cave Lion: Panthera leo spelaea

The spelaea lion is considered to have been one of the largest lions. The skeleton of an adult male found in 1985 near Siegsdorf in Germany had a shoulder height of around 1.2 m (3.9 ft) and a head-body length of 2.1 m (6.9 ft) without the tail. This is similar to the size of a very large modern lion. The size of this male has been exceeded by other specimens of this subspecies. Therefore, this cat may have been over 10% bigger than modern lions and smaller than the earlier fossilis cave lion or the American lion. Females are smaller than males.

A 2016 study identified the hair on the basis of DNA as being cave lion hair, and comparison to the hair of an African lion revealed that cave lion hair was similar in color to that of modern lions, though slightly lighter. In addition to slightly different coloration, cave lions had a very thick and dense undercoat comprising closed and compressed yellowish-to-white wavy downy hair with a smaller mass of darker coloured guard hairs, as an adaptation to the ice age climate.

The cave lion is known from Paleolithic cave paintings, ivory carvings, and clay figurines. These representations indicate cave lions had rounded, protruding ears, tufted tails, possibly faint tiger-like stripes, and at least some had a "ruff" or primitive mane around their necks, possibly indicating males. Other archaeological artifacts indicate they were featured in Paleolithic religious rituals. In France's Chauvet cave, there is a drawing, which was estimated to be 30,000 years old, and depicts two cave lions walking together, with one in the foreground, and the other in the background. The lion in the foreground is smaller than the lion in the background, which has a scrotum, but no mane.
