I love lilacs with their fresh, clean smell that reminds me of spring and buzzing bees:

Blue Orchids <3

Blue orchids such as the one you posted DON'T EXIST. They are either artificially colored, painted, or the result of Photoshop.

Dendrobiis lack the ability to synthetize blue pigments.

-----

So far, the only TRUE blue orchid is a very primitive Australian genus, called Thelymitra.

However, some other more evoluted genera can produce a color very close to lavender-blue.

For instance, Herschelia graminifolia (from South Africa):

Or more widely known, Vanda coerulea (Himalayas and Thaïland):

In Europe, you also have an orchid genus capable of near-blue color, but the process it uses is somewhat unique, since it doesn't rely on pigments but instead reflects polarized light (hence the almost metallic sparkle), just like a shining beetle would. And indeed, the flower tries to mimic insects, if you were wondering.

For instance, a close-up of Ophrys speculum (Corsica, France):

Calla Lilies are my favorites of all time. They are terribly elegant.

Is it just me or does this get anyone else hot and bothered? It looks like the genitalia of an alien.
