I was fortunate enough to hike to the summit of a peak named Red Tahquitz, adjacent to the San Jacinto mountain which is the 2nd highest peak in SoCal, at 10,800 ft. Red Tahquitz stands at at 8,720 ft. It was an incredible hike from the quaint town of Idyllwild, through beautiful, pristine forest to reach the top. The view is the best I've seen yet, spanning from San jacinto mountain to the whole of San Diego county, and eastward to the great Salton Sea and the desert basin below. Just magnificent landscape!

Amazing pics, Risen.
What a fantastic hike that must have been.
How many miles total?
Were you out the whole day?
Did you kill any snakes?

The view is practical aerial in its height and expansiveness. Quite lovely, Risen, and sounds like a fun time. :)

Yea, the peak is at 8,720 feet. It's a view that I have only previously seen while flying over in an airplane, lol. Total milegae was around 10~11, and an elevation gain of about 2100'~2500'. Took us 4 hours to complete.
