I usually leave spiders alone.

Water bugs/roaches die. Mosquitoes get slapped.

Ants are ignored until they start getting into food. Then they get poisoned.

Camel crickets get the shriek for someone else to deal with it treatment. Black crickets get ignored unless they startle me.

Lady bugs and other nice bugs get put outside.

Fleas are treated for before the flea season starts.

Unless it's actually likely to be, or is actually being, harmful in some way, it usually gets chucked out, or simply ignored if it's not too annoying. Big buzzy flies have to die right away, I really hate the sound the things make, the way they go round and round the lightbulb bumping into things, and don't want them going anywhere near anything edible. Cockroaches have to die too, because they're flippin' cockroaches. Obviously anything that's actually trying to eat me dies too.

Maybugs, despite their remarkable resemblance to cockroaches, are perfectly harmless and only there through evolved stupidity, so they get rescued and put back out, so they can continue making intermittent percussive sounds against the now closed window all evening as they duly fly back into it again and again :)

Spiders are normally harmless enough to ignore unless they're big buggers or are trying to spin webs, then they have to be evicted. Hopefully they'll catch something evil like flies or mosquitoes outside.

Ants are relatively harmless, but can become extremely annoying if they actually try taking up residence inside the house or carry out their investigations too much. They MAY have to be poisoned, depending. Any that think they're going to live inside the house with me by building their nest there definitely are going to have to die.

90% outside, 10% squish. It's not a 100% either way thing.

And mosquitos - since survival of the fittest is the issue, the mosquito goes down.

Wasps are generally not safe for toying with either. Flies - swatted.

I have a system for eradicating spiders:

1. Find nearest form of tissue, be it toilet tissue or facial.
2. Take spider and squish it in tissue.
3. Find nearest toilet bowl.
4. Flush the spider down the toilet.

Mosquitoes... hate those things. I feel like a magnet to them. They get killed on the spot.

Flies get the swatter. Wasps and yellow jackets get the swatter too. Bees, in theory I'd like to release them because their population hasn't been doing well lately, need pollinators. I end up swatting bees though. In high school, during band rehearsals I slaughtered a wasp with my clarinet case. Was the closest weapon I could find at the moment. I'm not a fan of insects with stingers.

Ladybugs, fireflies, moths, and butterflies get released outside. They don't bug me much.

I normally don't like to kill anything, and will do my best to shoo an insect out of the home, but if it's poisonous, fuc*in HUGE, or about to crawl under something I'd rather it not hide under for lord knows how long (and possibly die there), I'll kill it.

I actually tell the insect to leave a few times. Yes, I talk to creatures.

Mostly they get put outside. I usually kill spiders, flies and roaches.

I do not like the sensation I get when I squish an exoskeleton.

I used to be ridiculously phobic of exos, then I took an entomology class, and that fear subsided immensely, but it's still there.

If it is huge, or scary, I'll get my mother, or my SO to do something about it.

If it is cute and friendly, I'll let it be, or let it out.

:)

I tend to shoo spiders and things outside.

I used to ask someone else to kill or move the bugs for me, but then I read a short series of graphic pornographic science fiction stories where people shrink themselves down to the sizes of ants to watch two normal sized people ‘get it on,’ but the characters get lost in the room and starve to death.

I’m not sure if it’s empathy or revulsion, but I will not have dead bugs in my house

Is it a roach, a worm, a termite, a fly, a maggot, a mosquito, or a wasp
Does it make a fun crunching noise when I slowly increase the pressure of my foot on it
Does it leave trails of snot or poop
Does it have a better sex life then me

Then it dies.

Does it have cool looking wings
Can I use it to scare my siblings
Can it be described as a flying peanut
Is it too stupid to really leave a room with an open window on its own

Guess I’ll let it live

When it comes to bees, I try to capture them in a napken or cup and releace them on my nieghbor's property.

I usually pick them up with something and put them outside.

I also have a thing where I have to save ants and other bugs if they're drowning in the sink or on the wall of the shower. I let them crawl onto my finger and I lift them to safety. :)

Why would you shoo any insect out? It's not like they have a soul.
All they have is instinct, no conscious thought.
Besides, they are a menace. And if you let one go, it breeds, creating more.
To cull the population of insects, kill a few now and then.
Much like humans should fight wars and experience disasters every once in a while.
Circle of life. Happy, happy, happy.

Anything that is a menace to mosquitoes is a friend to me.

funny, but the man lives in dread fear of insects... this morning I had to catch a spider that was sitting on his laptop case and take it outside after hearing a yell about it from the other room

Don hates bugs. They are the main reason (followed by lack of climate control and no internet connection) he won't go camping with me.

He's been known to take mice to the edge of the yard and release them, though.
