It's a type of swamp rat. Very common in South Louisiana, where they've become a nuisance.

We call them muskrats here. UGGHHHHH I cannot imagine eating them at all. Although Louisianans eat EVERYTHING>

Muskrats are much smaller. And aren't the same animal. The one I am holding in that picture is probably 20 or so pounds.
