Why is it that so few pizza and submarine fast food ( or even slow food ) operations don't offer green olives as toppings/choices ? I much prefer green olives, although I can enjoy black ones alright.

Why is it that we don't get many options re: mustard for sandwiches, either ?

Green olives just taste like pure vinegar. :sick:

Save money, just buy vinegar by the gallon.

Green olives on a pizza? Common man! That's horrific.

I say this as a proud lover of all thing olives. I hate black olives - the canned "sweet" crap - that we get on pizzas... there are much better versions of them, for sure. But never ever green. That's... well... horrific.

With you on the mustard thing, although I actually like French's/yellow mustard as compared to any of the other versions, but some meats are better with dijon or grainier forms.

I prefer black olives on pizza.

I like green olives with that orange stuff in it best for snacks though. :p

So I dunno which to choose.

I like olives in every form or fashion I've encountered them... but kalamatas are the best, I think.

Sadly, there was no poll option for them.

Canned black olives are absolutely disgusting. Smelling a can of those makes me want to vomit.

I'll just stick with banana peppers. Thanks.

I probably slightly prefer black olives, especially on pizza or in a salad, but I also like green olives. I like to suck the pimentos out of green olives, or chop them up in cream cheese and spread them on a cracker.

Green olives because they are more useful for Mediterranean cuisine.
For instance, when I want to cook a Tajine, or any dish from the middle-east.

The black olives are also used for the Tapenade. But then, we should make the difference beween olives that are black before ripening (Olives de Nyons, for instance, or Kalamatas), and those that become black only after having lengthily been fermented/cured into vinegar/brine (like the Italian Gaetas or the majority of Greek olives).

I thought of adding Kalamatas ( purples ? ) to the choices but it seemed like it would be reaching. If these places can't even handle including green olives as an option, how could we get them to include Kalamatas ?

The little place I get pizza from offers both on their supreme pizzas. I never thought much about it. I love olives but Kalamata and Niçoise are my favorites.
