I never really make a list. These are things that come to mind though:

Milk
Cheese
Yogurt
Cereal
Some sort of fruit (mostly bananas or golden apples)
Some sort of vegetable (commonly some stuff to make salad or an avocado)
LOTS of TV Dinners and frozen goods :D
LOTS of Ramen
Various canned food (soup, chef boy RD ETC)
Lots of juice
Bread
Eggs
Whatever condiments or necessities I'm out of (toothpaste or shampoo for necessities).
Maybe a treat if it's on sale.

I usually live off of 40-$60 a week. I think I do good.

that's about what I live off in a week but really only grocery shop once a month. I do buy milk more often just cuz I tend to run out or it goes bad before I use it all.

This is from memory and so is more of a "what was bought" list than "what was on the list" list... most of it was for a couple recipes for this week... and I might be unintentionally combining two separate trips to the store.

2 onions
1 red bell pepper
1 head of garlic
1 zucchini
2 lg carrots
2 cans of corn
cornbread mix
fettuccine
pizza sauce
pizza dough
raisins
sandwich bread
strawberries
banana cream pie
tofu
eggs
wine

I cracked up when I saw some random stranger's old "to do" list the other day. It reminded me of my own shortcomings.

Item #1 was something along the lines of "Finish so and so training". Item #2 was "Explain last night to S." Item #3 was "Return books to library" Item #4 was "Pack Smokes" and item #5 was "Straighten up apartment" Only item #4 was crossed out.

Seriously? Well, ok... this is what I buy regularly.
Shredded cheese, mexican blend
sliced cheese
bread
soy milk
cow milk
band aids
tortilla chips....

Most other things I buy at costco, or already have enough for a small army. Oh, and coffee. Worst addict ever.
