    Default Your Green Space

Bonjour bodacious botanists and Hello home horticulture heroes!

House plants. From Aloes to ZZplants and everything in between.
Post your plants, your guides for growing, your techniques at tenderness and the lessons you've learned in cultivating your green space. From aesthetics to herbology; to simply bringing a bit of ature into your home and helping it grow, there's all kinds of reason to have house plants, but if it were easy...well everyone would do it. From the obvious pratfalls like not watering your ferns or leaving your mushrooms in the tanning bed for too long, or pest infestations, to addressing pet consumption concerns.

This is your thread...help it grow...

Have fun, share your wisdom, and remember to love each other....
    With all due respect,

I have no idea whether any of these actually work, but I was taken in by the first one...

I’ve got a black thumb. I’m utterly horrible with plants.
If it doesn’t meow at me, I won’t remember to feed it.

I plan on getting a spiderplant, eventually. They’re hard to kill, make their own babies, clean the air, & aren’t toxic to cats.

Aloe vera are really hard to kill. And useful!

I want to grow vegetables someday. I'll probably start with herbs like basil, since those are the easiest.

FernGully! Yeeee! I love that movie!

I can't comment on house plants. My mom is the one that loves them. I only admire from afar. But she's had an aloe for over twenty years that she kept from her deceased mother's garden as a "part" of her, and it's only now getting sick and having trouble flourishing.

We gotta take care of our Earth. (And stop commenting on the sensuality of Hexxus, which I didn't notice until my teens -_-)

My orchid re-bloomed, which was my first such successful event. I have killed a couple orchids in my day. The blooms have since died along with the stem, so I cut it back to the base and will wait patiently, hoping for another stem to grow and then bloom again.

This made me extremely happy because I rescued a larger orchid that I had given to my mom from her house after she passed. Having it bloom again would be representative of the cycle of death and rebirth for me, and offer a symbolic connection to my mother.

And from here on out, I'm not gonna feel anything new.
Just lesser versions of what I've already felt.”

    YAY ANOTHER ORCHID LOVER.

I had an orchid getting a new stem before, my first original one, but a fungus gnat infestation ruined them all... *sigh*

I'm gonna have to go visit my cousin and get some tips and a plant(he's grown them since I was a kid) I think I might be catching the orchid fever @_@
