What is your experience with bodyweight exercise?

I am an proponent.

I believe bodyweight to be extremely effective in building muscle.
I think it should be used as a primary muscle-building tool,
and although compared to weight-training, resistance is diminished;
i have found that distributing weight across your body provides a much more complete muscular development.
When resistance is lacking, it is an very easy remedy to add weights to your body;
and when properly applied, I find evenly distributed body-weights are much more effective than classical weigh-training.

I believe body-resistance is much more effective in building core muscle strength.
in my experience, weight training expends massive energy that is not proportionate to the gains of development in deep-tissue muscle.
