Working out barefoot: pros and cons?

Day one down, my quads were on fire after just 20 mins on the elliptical machine. I felt I was getting the most out of my workout, like my entire lower body was working as it should. There was also an exhilarating sense of 'liberation'... I can't quite explain it. Can't wait for this evening's workout. :)

That is quite a scary thought. And it happens. Careful! Perhaps minimalist shoes are the best option.

Although, come to think of it, if a 15kg dumbbell dropped on one's foot, it prolly wouldn't make much of a difference whether one was in minimalist shoes or barefoot.
