OK, some quotation (of dubious sourcing), talking about how flouride is bad...
How... Informative?

Allow me to reiterate, since it clearly didn't sink in;
Your implied parallels between fluoexetine (a specific molecule, which contains the structure of flourine within it) and "flouride" (actually, "flourides", there is no substance that exists in isolation called "flouride"... it refers to a diverse class of compounds that share the flouride halide), are not equivalent.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Floride said:
Fluorine-containing compounds range from potent toxins such as sarin to life-saving pharmaceuticals such as efavirenz, and from inert materials such as calcium fluoride to the highly reactive sulfur tetrafluoride.

For any degree of fluoride poisoning to take place, a compound would have to release fluoride ions (or create them via reactions with other compounds).
Fluoxetine, during it's entire metabolism, does not do this.
It, in fact, has only one known biologically active metabolite (interestingly enough, it's another substance with SSRI properties, and is part of the reason fluoxetine has such a long elimination half life).

Also, even if we disregard the fact that what you just posted has no relation to fluoxetine, if you believe the enclosed statements to be true, then people would be facing astronomically higher "fluoride" exposure risks through drinking fluoridated water than they would even through high therapeutic doses of fluoxetine...

You're not a doctor; don't pretend to be.
And as clearly demonstrated here, you don't have any real knowledge of pharmaceuticals or chemistry; don't pretend you do.
You're just copy-pasting horseshit from misinformed conspiracy theory sites.

I implore you to find something better to do with your supposedly valuable time than spread propaganda you don't even comprehend.

I'm considering writing out everything before I go so I can show it to the counselor when I have my introductory session. Is this a good idea or just stupid?

its a really good idea, but you can keep it more as a note for what to talk about more than writing a letter for him. it might be a good idea to write it in such form where he can understand the main points too and show it to him

Try the Broda Barnes basal method first, their foundation actually goes through the bs of blood test diagnosis on paper to appease the staggering density of orthodox ways and then proceeds to do other things to determine a definite overview like actually listen to the patent. Orthodox almost sounds religious but hell medicine seems to becoming as black and white as religion sometimes.

The normal basal body temperature range is between 97.7 and 98.2. Low basal temperatures, below 97.7, may reflect hypothyroidism; high basal temperatures, above 98.2, may be evidence of hyperthyroidism. The function of the thyroid gland can be determined by measuring your basal temperature and that can be done with something as simple as a thermometer.

Use an oral glass thermometer.
Shake the thermometer down before going to bed, and leave it on the bedside table within easy reach.
immediately upon awakening, and with as little movement as possible, place the thermometer firmly in the armpit next to the skin, and leave it in place for 10 minutes.
Record the readings for three consecutive days.

What to do when going to the doctor is asking for more than just TSH which may still practically leave Dr's clueless without them sending you to the endocrinologist.

TSH – Thyroid stimulating hormone
FT4 – Free thyroxine
FT3 – Free liothyronine
TT4 – Total thyroxine
TT3 – Total liothyronine
rT3 – reverse T3
TPOAb – Thyroperoxidase antibodies
TgAb – Antithyroglobulin antibodies

Some of these are extra's that doctors are reluctant to want to test for.

And I always recommend more iodine and magnesium as very beneficial to your body.

i take the post above as yes to bolded part below

+9001

mental health of another person is not something people with no understanding should be talking about, especially not suggesting some crappy diagnosis, because they might keep her from going and finding real help. its pretty obvious that she would prefer to believe that some calcium deficiency(or what ever) is the cause of all of this and if people keep suggesting stuff like that she might think that this whole thing isnt a big deal and that she should just buy some calcium tablets. then give it a year or so and shes yelling to a bike on a street and trying to bite brown eyes people who look at her funny. anyone want that on your conscience raise your hands.

Ok, well aside from all the silly arguing and slighting in this thread, which truely is pointless not to mention just plain old rude.

Important part of my post:

I hope that you, Oeufa, are going to make an appointment today?

Not so important part of my post but to me worth mentioning.
I actually give some credence to synapse's points since he is up on his Naturopathic medicine. I do however think that making an appointment and seeing a specialist is the best and most urgent point of call. I do not think that synapse (correct me if i am wrong synapse) was saying that Oeufa should not go to see a specialist, rather his thoughts were simply offering suggestions.
INTP i'm surprised to see , since you have been calling irresponsibility, that you make ridiculous examples of someones possible behaviours if they do not do what you are suggesting and concurrently mock others suggestions.
This to me would appear irresponsible.

No, I'm not on campus today after all so I'm not making an appointment. I've an essay to do today that I was supposed to hand in 2 weeks ago. The extension period for late submissions ends tomorrow. It's worth 50% of my module grade (though it will already be docked 2 grade points for lateness...). I also have an italian oral tomorrow, that I somehow have to learn how to speak italian for. I have hardly attended any classes of anything this semester and it's showing. Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaadly.

This is the thing though: I think I'm just really really fucking lazy. Jesus, who am I to think that I can make elaborate excuses for laziness and work up strangers on the internet with worry for my mental health, when in fact I just need to buckle down and actually do some fucking work. I mean, all the stuff I mentioned in the first half of my OP was a very long time ago - I haven't felt that kind of terror in years. What I'm experiencing now is just disenchantment with school. Too lazy to go to class? Must be mentally ill. FFS. I'm annoyed with myself now. :steam:

You are flaking, Missy.

Finish that paper, if it's that important and then treat yourself to an appointment as a reward. No more excuses!

I don't actually think you are being lazy, i think you are finding excuses not to go and get this sorted out.
Yes exams/papers are important but i agree with red herring that you need to treat yourself (as in look after yourself) by making an appointment. Is it not possible to make an appointment by phone i wonder? Or even online?
I don't mean to hassle you over this but i think you are just giving yourself a hard time which really will not help how you are feeling in general. Make the appointent, write things down if it will be easier to explain, if you find it hard to talk you could just hand the piece of paper over to the therapist/counsilor/psychaitrist/who ever and let them start talking first.

I think I'm making excuses, but the other way round. I've been lazy, skipping classes and not handing up assignments, and now I'm looking for a Get Out of Jail Free card. Something that says, "Hey, you know the €1000s you owe us for repeating classes you failed? Don't WORRY about it. It's just cause you're psychotic. Have a cookie."

Yes I can make an appointment by phone, but that involves...well... a phone. I detest phone calls from the very core of my being. I'm not making one when I could go into the office instead.

Agh, I've too much to do and no time to do it and I'm just digging myself into a bigger hole here by looking for reasons it's not my fault when there are none.

I don't think you are lazy. You are afraid something might really be wrong with you. But the fear of that isn't going to go away by pushing it aside and focusing on other things..it's only going to get worse bubbling under the surface. And if you really don't think anything is wrong with you..why don't you go and prove that by making an appointment?

I thought i was lazy...everyone thought i was..until i figured out what was really wrong with me.

Do you avoid the phone like the plague? A fear of the phone is common in people with anxiety.

I don't have time to see someone to tell me I'm perfectly fine, if inhumanly lazy. Jeez, I've just spent all day switching between facebook and tumblr instead of actually writing this damn essay. I somehow have to get it all done and learn enough Italian to fool a Sardinian man by tomorrow. What would a counsellor say that I don't already know? I'm lazy and not working hard enough (or working at all for that matter).

A lazy person looks for the most comforrtable path (i.e. Least resistence), you suffer and hit a brick wall when you would be better off working. That isn't lazyness, that's a symptom.

Quit beating yourself up and get your ass to a pro who will tell you what's going on. Lazy people enjoy doing nothing. If doing nothing hurts you and yet you somehow can't help it, that's something else.

I know loads of people who avoid making phone calls if there's a different way available to them. Are you telling me they're all mentally unwell too?

That makes sense but still... I dunno. It seems like I'm just making excuses again (albeit rather grandiose excuses compared to my normal ones). I'm the master of excuses after all. I had it down to a fine art when I was in secondary school - I rarely if ever handed up homework, and while that usually got other kids in trouble I somehow endeared myself unto my teachers. They all (bar one with whom I had a personality clash) liked me. I got into the lazy habit in 2nd level and now I'm feeling the repercussions in 3rd level where I can't just charm the pants of my tutors and hope for the best.

Not at all. I am merely pointing out that you have enough symptoms to warrant a look into your mental health. You may just not like the phone..it was a weak one to draw on. But if there is a chance that this is more than laziness, you can save yourself a LOT of pain by addressing it early on. And the number of replies suggesting, and even pushing, that you seek help, should be concerning.

What do you have to lose? A bit of time and money that you think you can't afford to lose? It pales in comparison to what you lose if you don't go and there is something wrong. And sure..maybe you think "you're not explaining it right"..but that's an excuse too.

I'd be a much better place in my life right now if didn't make excuses and put it off out of fear and label it laziness. I would hate to see anyone else go though it.

Whatever you decide, just make a well informed decision.

^^^ There really is nothing to loose. If you're feeling anxious/lazy/uncertain these are things that a councilor or therapist would help you with. I went to see a councilor before I made some really big decisions in my life. I knew what my problem was, I had an inkling on how to fix it, but talking about it with someone was what it took to get me to make changes.

Oeufa, i honestly think it would be beneficial to go for an assessment appointment... i would'nt keep posting if i did not.

And you know what, i take back anything i have said that is not directly related to this because it's important and i now feel quite shitty about getting caught up in other crap...which is not important.

But what if it is just laziness? Then I've no one but myself to blame for the huge academic and financial mess I'm in.

I dunno. Too many "ifs". Logically I know I've nothing to lose by going to see a counselor. Nothing but my excuses anyway.

I guess I just feel a bit lost. I mean, I'm not bothered with school work, I'm too lazy to properly hunt for part-time work, I'm terrified of letting people get close to me that I push any romantic interests away and I'm too scared of growing up and being a responsible adult that I'm hiding behind my flimsy excuses. If I go to a psychologist and tell them all this they'll just tell me to snap the fuck out of it and cop on. I mean, I'm the only goddamn thing holding myself back. What's the point of paying someone the privilege of telling me the same thing?

Oeufa, who cares what it is?

Your doing the same thing in this thread that you are complaining about, and that is going in circles instead of doing something about it.

Either go see a counselor or don't. Its your life, your experience, and what you want from it.

lol There is absolutely no psychologist that will tell you to snap the fuck out of it. Mental health is very subjective, if you're in a mental health professional's office, they'll figure that you have a reason to be there. And they'll help you work it out. I think any professional knows that accomplishing changes requires more than just powering it through. If it were as easy as flipping a switch, you would've done it already.

I think no professional psychologist or councelor would ever talk to you in that tone you apply to yourself.

Look up "lazy" in a dictionary. It means a tendency to avoid work despite the ability (out of preference) not a lack of energy!
