    Default "fake" meats

So I wondered, how many of you have tried some of those fake meat substitutes? Did you like them? Do you think if you eat this you qualify as a real vegetarian/vegan?

I have had some of the morning star bacon and such, it is actually really good. That's just my opinion though. XD

    Space Meat.
Sassy is the cat in the moment of destiny...

    For the cat is cryptic,
and close to strange things which men cannot see.
He is the soul of antique Aegyptus,
and bearer of tales from forgotten cities in Meroë and Ophir.
He is the kin of the jungle’s lords,
and heir to the secrets of hoary and sinister Africa.
    The Sphinx is his cousin, and he speaks her language;
but he is more ancient than the Sphinx,
and remembers that which she hath forgotten...

Ive had black bean burgers. Not really a fan. I mean, if I was at someones house and thats what they gave me Id eat one to be polite probably, but they are kinda dry and just not really fun or enjoyable for me.

Why wouldn't you be a real vegan or vegetarian if you eat 'fake meat'?

Never tried it but if the taste is the same I would stop eating animal meat.

I have heard a few online suggest that those who do it are more likely to eventually quit the diet or that they don't understand the heart of it if they eat substitutes. I was wondering the general consensus. XD

I grew up eating a lot of these and sometimes do still. There is no meat content so you are vegetarian eating them. Some taste really bad and some are okay. The super links seem pretty good to me for hot dog substitute. The Boca Burger crumbles work in spaghetti sauce and tacos I think.

I’ve had boca burgers, tofu, fake chicken nuggets, etc. Not a fan, they always upset my stomach.

I tried out a fully balanced vegetarian diet & still ended up anemic. It just doesn’t agree with me. I eat red meat like, once a year as it is. I get humanely sourced poultry & fish more often than not, so I’m at peace with my choices.

No, I don’t think people who eat meat substitutes aren’t true vegetarians/vegans. They’ve still cut out animal flesh & other animal products from their diets, & that’s the main thing.

If meat grown in a lab became widely available & affordable/had the same nutrient profile, I’d definitely go for that over my current staples.

    Yay for humane meat alternatives!
