We all have some skills. What to think of them? I like to think of them mainly on the axis of playful - serious. As it's the most important factor for determining a particular display of skill for me.

Playful:
-the skill is of show
-there might be no real application
-it might be an ego boost for the performer
-it might only impress random strangers

Serious:
-there's a business relating to the use of said skill
-the business is competitive
-the practice of said skill is competitive within the field
-the use of said skill impresses people within the field
