A bunch of us have had Johari surveys done. What did you come out with on this? Do you agree with your results? Do you think it's a good characterization of you? Any surprises?

Here are my top 10 in order, which represents feedback from 48 people.

intelligent (54%)
mature (41%)
calm (37%)
observant (37%)
reflective (33%)
knowledgeable (31%)
confident (22%)
friendly (16%)
sensible (16%)

It seems directionally accurate. I have never thought of myself as particularly observant, friendly or helpful though. Also, it continues to surprise me as to why intelligent is at the top of the list. I know I'm not dumb but it doesn't seem like the defining characteristic.

Idealistic, observant, quiet, reflective, sentimental, warm. "Observant" and "warm" are surprising to me -- I think I'm pretty inattentive, oblivious and unfriendly/unresponsive sometimes.

Hmm. I've never used one of these or responded to anyone else's. I think I prefer direct interaction with context.

Out of 14 people who participated, here are my top nine results from my Johari list (since I had a bunch of 14% tied for No.10):

  1. intelligent (50%)
  2. reflective (42%)
  3. searching (35%)
  4. complex (35%)
  5. adaptable (28%)
  6. self-conscious (28%)
  7. silly (28%)
  8. brave (28%)
  9. knowledgeable (21%)

There are no real surprises on the list, although there were some items I thought would rank higher. But there were a lot of words on the test, and some are similar, so not all could appear; I had a lot of words appear in blind spot, so aside from the top ones, responses were all over the map.

Can people help me out with this? Or am I supposed to pester people I know IRL about this? I could do that, but I'd prefer to waste the time of relative strangers. :)

More than 10 because of all the ties.

Surprised that "logical" is #1, but not at all surprised that "confident" is as well. The juxtaposition of "warm", "helpful", "friendly" and "powerful" is kind of funny, but I'm glad it's there. I want it to be there.

yeah, i agree with them. i think there are limited options on the johari, so there's that to take into consideration. the number of people who are labeled 'observant' is probably higher than if people were actually just thinking of words to describe us.

also, reading my results, i feel like they reflect a side of me that people see first. up front, i'm very friendly and all that other stuff. there are aspects of my personality that are unrepresented here that i feel are still very much a part of me.

Kind of surprised at the calm and self-assertive ones. And intelligent and mature scoring that high. The rest seems to be the general idea most people get on first glance as long as Im not going on about some pet peeve or overly hyper at the time that we meet.

those are my top 9. the tenth spot is a bunch tied for 16%. my nohari seems to make less sense because i think it's more insults than it is constructive criticism. although top result for my nohari is overdramatic which makes sense. but then there are some things like unimaginative or humourless and it's like...bruh you definitely have some problems with me haha

I don't know what this is, but it seems dangerous for me to put one up...

Really? You can literally only get positive input from it.

Nohari is much more dangerous. :ninja:

I could never have a Johari window, because there is a difference between who I am and who I come across as. It would just make me frustrated, but I find it strangely fun to fill in others.

Yeah someone repped me and told me the difference. I guess the johari is safe :p

1) intelligent (71%)

2) clever (42%), friendly (42%) & witty (42%)

3) accepting (28%), observant (28%), self-assertive (28%), nervous (28%) & silly (28%)

4) introverted (14%), kind (14%), knowledgeable (14%), relaxed (14%), sensible (14%), sentimental (14%), spontaneous (14%), trustworthy (14%), warm (14%) & wise (14%)

I agree with: Nervous, silly, & witty.

I disagree with: Knowledgeable, relaxed, sensible & intelligent.

I'm not sure on the rest. I actually find it a bit taxing to confess I even agree with any of them, especially witty since I would imagine there are plenty who would not agree with that from their perspective. Although clearly some do.
