Typology Central is devoted to psychology and so it attracts those who are psychologically vulnerable and those who are psychologically cruel.

The first rule of psychology is do no harm, so we have a moral duty to protect the psychologically vulnerable and to oppose the psychologically cruel.

In fact it would behove us to study the actual psychology of vulnerabilility and the psychology of cruelty.

A good place to start is with the psychologist, Alice Miller, and her many books including For Your Own Good.

How do you figure, given that both rules and morals/ethics are social constructs held together by sticky tape and wishful thinking?

Rules and moral ethics are held together by institutions.

For instance, our rules and moral ethics are held together by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in the institution the United Nations.

Rules and moral ethics are held together by liberal democracy in the institution of Parliament. And our liberal democracy sits in the institution of Parliament House just near me. It is an interesting institution and an interesting building. You might like to google it on the internet.

And the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and liberal democracy are underpinned by a miriad of Civil Institutions including religions, sporting clubs and societies, welfare institutions, political parties, educational institutions, social institutions, and thousands of other free Civil institutions.

So a socially conceived declaration protects a socially conceived right at a socially conceived committee. Fascinating. I had no idea sporting clubs and welfare institutions were the ultimate authority in this plane of existence, apparently dictating universal truths on the premise that enough people believe it to be so.

It's called liberal democracy. It means the greatest good for the greatest number. It maximises freedom and equaliy.

And human rights are not just a matter of consensus, rather we have fought and died to establish human rights.

My watch words are empathy and creativity.

And the very basis of creativity is vulnerability.

And it is interesting that creativity is such a rare quality, for so many of us lack the moral courage to be vulnerable.

And it is worse, because those who lack the moral courage to be vulnerable profoundly hate those with the moral courage to be vulnerable. So the moral cowards are cruel to the vulnerable.

This form of cruelty to the vulnerable and creative is called ressentiment.

We can read about ressentiment in Max Scheler's book called Ressentiment.
