What approaches have been successful for you? What is the longest period of time you've dealt with serious apathy?

Apathy is present in me in many ways, but never at the cost of something important. Relativize and prioritize!

I take the zen approach. If I am truly an apathetic person at heart, I'll die apathetic. Reality at all costs.

Life's just too amusing to feel apathetic for very long.

(for me, at least)

I don't think I have that very often or not in ways that bother me. I think sometimes a little more apathy would make my life easier.

Being a fairly apathetic person in general has both its benefits and drawbacks. For instance, many mundane events throughout life that may bother some other people have no effect on myself, and that would work in my favour. So usually I am apathetic about being apathetic. I am apathetic about almost everything, except for the goals that I want to achieve in the future. The problem lies in having the motivation to actually do said things. In my experience, my apathy came from nihilism, which in turn came from trying to find a meaning for everything (and there isn't one). So to eradicate the problem, I try to use my goals as a subjective purpose that I can focus on achieving. The most serious case of apathy is right now, and it began around 1-2 years ago, which I suppose isn't too long, but it's becoming very troublesome.

These days i'm too busy to be apathetic. Sometimes it creeps up on me, but usually it's about retreating into myself a bit, observing my position and considering the options.

It came with the realisation that you can either check out of life or push through and stick till the end. And apathy is just part of walking down the path of getting out.

Not that I find anything wrong with that, it's something I've often considered, but I've decided that there are still some things I wish to see and do.

Life strives, I was given life whether it was infected upon me or was a gift as so many claim. In either case I think sticking it out till the end will present an interesting answer on which one it was.

I think I am a little less apathetic than in years past but it's always there and will always be there to some degree. I don't feel a need to deal with it.
