So what's the link? I surmise that good social skills and social interaction rely on healthy emotional input, but how, specifically?

Healthy emotional input? Like from the other party?

Because that would make sense in a way. When people give us good vibes we recognize them as not being hostile, so we'll take the time to really absorb what they say and respond.

No, I mean more like... emotional processing. Like how your thoughts and experiences are connected to emotional input and judgments.Like for one, being able to empathize with another person's emotional/mental state is crucial (and lacking in aspergers). I think a very basic emotional input is required for the general ability to make judgments, necessary for interacting with people in terms of how you perceive them, and react accordingly.

So like, interpreting another person's emotional state, and whether that skill is related to decision making and other cognitive abilities?

Okay, yeah. I feel like someone who understands the structure of the brain better than I do probably has some kind of super answer to exactly that question.

Practice, seclusion leads to dissipation of emotions or intense reactions. Emotions are a use it or lose it thing just as much as the mind.

Is that what you are talking about?
