I took the Wechsler III test recently. There was quite a difference between my scores on the ability scales (verbal, memory, perceptual organization) and processing speed. Significantly higher scores on the ability scales than processing speed.

My concerns are not about measuring intelligence but I am very curious about the effects of this difference on my own productivity and the consequent frustration (ability and expectations far surpass performance) .

Questions:
1. Any ideas on possible causes for this?
2. Can processing speed be improved - suggestions?

Thoughts on this by professional psychologists or others who have given serious thought to this subject would be much appreciated.

Edit: ADD/ADHD have been ruled out after testing.
