Rationally Irrational Vs. Irrationally Rational

Rationally Irrational = NF

Irrationally Rational = NT

Okay, I'm kidding (a little).

More seriously, being rationally irrational means that you acknowledge that humanity is inherently irrational, and use that awareness to embrace certain aspects of that irrationality, and put them to good use.

Being irrationally rational means that you are disgusted by humanity's irrational nature, and strive to correct it, even if it would actually be more pragmatic in the long run to let it be. It's inherent in human nature, can't be eliminated, and will at best end up being sublimated/hidden in some way.

From the opposite perspective -

Being irrationally rational means that you believe the world will eventually make sense to you, and it's worthwhile to pursue that process even if you step over a few toes in the process. They'll thank you for it later.

Being rationally irrational means that you can rationalize illogical human behavior better than the average person, and consequently maintain social cohesion, even when it derails on you (like when people are clearly acting against their interests, or you misinterpret a blunt suggestion as an attack on character).

Just a gentle teasing...

YAY connotation/denotation time...

Okay, thanks to a billion years of sociologists pounding it into my head...

McDonalidization of society = rationalizing society... where everything has it's place and everything is purposeful and everything has an obvious explanation. CONFORMITY.

Irrational is the opposite... without this pointed purpose and explanation.

We SAY irrational when we mean nonsensical or illogical etc.

Irrationally rational = to be so caught up in the concrete purpose (IE at McDonalds when an employee follows policies that are designed to make customers happy and effectively pisses customers off) that the actual logic behind it is lost.

Rationally irrational is ignoring that book and doing what makes sense...

They talk about this is legal problems... letter vs. spirit of the law.

My $.02

Rationally Irrational: It has the structure of something rational, but it is NOT. The person tries to rationalize, but what they are using as their structure of logic is very flawed and irrational.

Irrationally Rational: Somehow it appears super irrational, but it makes sense? Like, being so tired that you can't sleep. Or having your workspace be organized chaos.
