I was thinking that a cooking challenge might be interesting, but I don't know how it would be pulled off - technically speaking.

Any ideas?

I LOVE this idea. Five easy points for Green.

That's hot!

*ahem* Anyways. . .

My concern is how to keep folks from cheating.

I think a photo would be necessary, but I don't know what to do to authenticate the pictures. I have some ideas, of course, but none of them seem foul-proof.

You can make people submit a second picture that shows a larger view of the room the picture of the food was taken in. Only the food picture would count for competition, but the wider picture would serve as authentication.

Not bad... though it makes me squirm... I'd prefer not to do it, if my preference means anything to the choosing of the next challenge.

It occurs to me that proving the contestant took the picture doesn't prove the contestant cooked the food. But I guess there is an element of trust to all of these. You could never prove that the current challenge wasn't farmed out to a professional photographer, either.

In progress photos? Sure you could still find ways around it.. but it'd be a *tiny* bit tougher.

The kind that you'd lose if you had to do on you own.

:D
Excuse me, punk. I can cook if I want to cook... I just dislike it. But, dammit, I can make some fantastic grub. I'm multitalented.

The cooking idea might be fun, but the majority of the time my food tastes way better than it looks, so it'd be quite a challenge to make it look good.

Cooking....?

Not really a team effort, given the geographical limitations...

First off, I think we have enough ideas here to cover the next four or five challenges. However after that. . .

I love this idea. As for authenticity, one photo in the kitchen preparing the meal and one photo of the meal on the dining room table.

Question about the cooking thing? We're just caring how it looks, and not how it tastes? B/c there's no way to know how it tastes.

A cooking challenge sounds inherently wrong on an internet forum.

I like ScantilyClad's dare idea. I don't know how that could be set up, though.

Well, thought about that, of course. And my opinion is that the decision of what to cook and who will be doing it would be done with team deliberations. Also, within each challenge there will invariably be one person that is more skilled at that particular challenge. So I'm only concerned if the majority of the work falls on the same person for every challenge.

But you're right. There are numberous challenge idea that are more team oriented. However, I think it's important for us to have challenges that bring in participants that have interests that span wide ranges similarly to the site itself.

True. Additionally, I was thinking of a napkin slightly under the plate that reads "MBTIc."

That's what recipe's are for, I believe.

And yes, I can read a recipe and know if I will like it. However, I think the main issue with this challenge is to visually appeal to the voter by creating something the average member would want to eat on that day.

Sort of. . . the creation of the "MBTIc Special" that would be served at your local eatery if you could make that happen.

Some more ideas :

Design a new logo for the forum (or "reserve" one, if it doesn't beat the existing one)

Come up with a motto for the forum.. a tagline.

Both are a team effort, the first involves a bit of fun with some tech, and can be easily decided with a vote.

Perhaps it's one challenge. A new logo and tagline!

Here's an example suggestion "MBTICentral : for the times when argentinian porn just isn't enough".

I can't cook. :( I can only microwave. And I don't have a digital camera. So I guess that would rule me out.
