I'm curious about how this seemingly contradictory type manifests. Specifically, how is it different from Fours or Eights? And how do Sexual Ones channel their sexual urges and energy?

What makes you see them as contradictory?

They are very intense.
I know some sexual 1s and they may appear 4 or 8 like.
They explode very often, the anger in this type is more evident than in the other subtypes.
Very contradictory and pasional in their attitude.
Beside of all this they are 1s and there is a self contained behavior and they are driven to do "the right thing"
Expect perfection from their intimates.

Well that depends a lot of the stacking. A sx/sp may appear more like I described above.
To picture a sx/so 1 look at Joan Of Arc.

Joan of Arc was a 6w7, not a 1.

All the messiness and fluidity inherent in the Sexual subtype juxtaposed with arguably the driest E-type? I think that's very contradictory.

I don't see it that way. The ideals and passions that Ones have are conceptually difficult for me to imagine overlapping with those ideals and passions people have for their relationships. But maybe it's just easy for me because I am a Sexual One.

I wish I could transcribe from Helen Palmer's book here. She wrote some very good stuff on how One's handle relationships and how Sexual ones are.

She was a 1.
No anxiety in her. She wanted to see France free, she was very stoical in her attitude and ideals.
No way a 6

Ah ok, you don't know what you're talking about. She was rebelious at times, devoted follower of rules others times, and paranoid, with antennas wich helped her to make the difference between the image people project and what they truly are. She was not especially concerned about rigid perfectionism of moral consistencies, but about loyalism, and "us-against-them" lust.

Well, what's it like for you? I really want to get into the head of this type.

I can kind of imagine how it manifests itself in 1w2s, but I'm at a loss when it comes to imagining a Sexual 1w9...

Well, thank you! :D What I meant to say, though, is... What makes them distinct from other subtypes? Is their focus more on "perfecting people" one-on-one, like mentors or teachers?

By moving to Four.

I'm an sx 1w9 -- can someone explain to me why this typing seems contradictory? Or, just ask me questions if I really do have a curious personality. :)

A 1w9 is more detached due to the 9 wing, but Sx intensity does not like being kept bottled up like a Genie.

I'm usually pretty detached, but if I get intrigued by someone and have a chance to talk to them, I become almost manically focused -- I can engage excitedly for hours and not get drained.

It doesn't come out that often, but when it rains it pours.

So yeah, I guess it is bottled up like a genie.

I relate to that very much.

I have a question. When you get stressed out, what does it feel like? Do you struggle to contain your stress or anger, or do you express it outwardly?

I'm more of a struggling to contain type of guy. I very rarely express anger outwardly unless I feel really close to someone.

Come on!!!
She was self assertive, and the fact that she was maybe schyzofrenic haves nothing to do with the type.-
She pursued an ideal, whe she was judged by the church she was extremely steady and honest.
The ones can be extremely passionate too. Not all the ones are concerned with a rigid structure. They can be the most revolutionary of all the E types.
