Enneagram takes a long time to learn too. And there’s many interpretations of all the 9 types which makes it more difficult. Lol but I think it’s more fulfilling than MBTI. MBTI may scratch the surface but it’s advice is certainly not practical. I find MBTI to be much more descriptive than explanatory.

c;

I saw some of the very many interpretations and i realized how many combinations there can be, part of the reason why i haven't delved into it yet. That's going to change sooner or later. Do you have any idea how i can confirm my tritype other than asking people to type me?

Just got to go through the old-fashion way of introspection. It could be useful if you can try to narrow it down and just keep participating on the forum. The more posts you have, I think the more we'll kind of get your vibe going :)

I guess i'll keep reading and introspecting then. I'm almost positive the three types i relate to in each triad are 7, 4 and 8 (in that order i think). The wings are confusing because i read that you're supposed to look at the wing type in combination with your core type, not in isolation (for example, reading descriptions of 7w6 as opposed to type 6). When i read about 7w6 vs 7w8, i relate more to 7w6 but type 6 in itself is the one type i relate to the leasttt while i relate to type 8 a whole lot. :thinking:

It is ok :)

A good alternative is to see which core type share the highest on both sides as you might be that core. For example if you see 1 and 3 being the highest with the middle being 2. You could be a 2. If that makes sense. A wing is really what neighboring number you lean closer to. Sometimes there is no wing preference. Sometimes it can be that people just like an aesthetic appearance of having a wing haha. Many 9’s don’t have wings but if they do, they see it easier to lean towards 1 than 8. As 1 doesn’t really convey their anger as an 8 does.

But in fact wing or not, that core type to theory is supposed to both qualities of their neighboring numbers. It is more of the case you share the qualities of the neighboring numbers than the lack thereof. Because essentially we have all 9 types within us.

When people say that, it usually does make sense but i'm slightly lost here. I don't think there are any two types that i relate to which are at the gap of one type in between. I was looking at it the other way around, pinning down the one that does sound like me and then looking at the ones on either sides to figure out this wing business.

A wing is really what neighboring number you lean closer to.
Yeah but if i read the descriptions of type 6 and type 8, i relate way more to 8 and hardly at all to 6, but its the opposite when i read descriptions of 7w6 vs 7w8 TT.TT
Which one is it?

Many 9’s don’t have wings but if they do, they see it easier to lean towards 1 than 8. As 1 doesn’t really convey their anger as an 8 does.
So should i look at how either type expresses emotion? Also, my potential wing's types belong to different triads, gut and head which are related to different emotions.

But in fact wing or not, that core type to theory is supposed to both qualities of their neighboring numbers. It is more of the case you share the qualities of the neighboring numbers than the lack thereof.
I was noticing the pattern that the wings seem to be different in orientation (sometimes even opposite) to each other like with type 6 actively seeking authority and relying on it while type 8 has the need to be independent and doesnt rely on others. How would it be both at the same time? Or did you mean like having some characteristics of one type and some from the other one? Hmm probably.

Because essentially we have all 9 types within us.
Ohh yeah i did realize i relate to each to some degree.
