That guy is a 6 with a line to 3. His 3ness is compensatory narcissism, which makes it more likely it's a stress connection as opposed to a core issue. Also, much of his need for glory is to please his father, and to be accepted as a Greyjoy.

Theon's issues aren't about security or being safe and protected . They're either about being loved by other people, or being admired by other people. I mean, think of his sexual habits.. a bit out of the norm for either Northern or Ironborn culture. This indicates that the desire is clearly to gain affection or admiration taken to unhealthy levels.

He's a heart type, not a head type. He doesn't even know that much about Ironborn culture, and just started out the series with some vague idea of them as badass warriors.

^exactly. he is a 2 rather than a 3 btw. impulsive, emotionally explosive, stress line to 8. although he is ambitious like a 3, he is far more hot headed and doesn't place much emphasis on competence or realistic achievement.
