Obviously people of many different enneagram types will show up in the same professions, but I thought I'd do one based on people I actually know IRL. The only exception to this will have to be 4's (which I'll base on people I know online) b/c I don't know others for sure in real life.

1w9 - Shoemaker (Cordwainer), Corporate Executive, Designer, Writer.

1w2 - Editor, Youth Ministry Staff, Professor of Interior Design, Director of Operations, freelance Writer/Photographer.

2w1 - Oncology Nurse, Doctor of Physical Therapy, Elementary Teacher.

2w3 - Dance Instructor, Real Estate Stager, Teacher, Photographer, Youth Pastor, Nurse.

3w2 - Wedding Planner, Salesman, Marketing Executive, Restaurant Manager, Teacher.

3w4 - Videographer, Youth Pastor, Musician, Corporate Executive, Goverment official.

4w3 - Musician, Stylist, Administrative Assistant.

4w5 - Illustrator, Writer, Dancer, Musician, Historian, Mediator, Metalsmith.

5w4 - Musician, Luthier (instrument repair), Writer, Artist.

5w6 - Chemistry Teacher, Physicist, Translator.

6w5 - Museaum Curator, Nurse Practitioner, Theologian, Gerontology Nurse, Computer Technician, Geologist.

6w7 - Restaurant Server, Potter, Graphic Designer, French Teacher, Nanny, Craft Brewery Cellarman, Marine, Firefighter.

7w6 - Director of Activities, Restaurant Server, Bartender, Personal Trainer, Dentist, Graphic Designer.

More accurate:

(I don't know type 1, 3, or 6 enough, so I'm not going to do them)

2w1: Preschool teacher, waitress, or stay-at-home parent
2w3: Hairstylist, personal shopper, or wedding planner

4w3: Actor, musician, or dancer
4w5: Fiction writer, poet, or psychotherapist

5w4: College professor, architect, or sociologist
5w6: Scientist, engineer, or software designer

7w6: Circus performer, comedian, or DJ
7w8: Athlete, stuntman, or professional gambler

8w7: Drill sergeant or professional wrestler
8w9: Business executive, firefighter, or government agent

9w8: High school teacher, veterinarian, or manager
9w1: Retail clerk, photographer, or physical therapist

I'd be terrible at all of the 7w8 ones.

That would be The Artist Formerly Known as Devi. Miss Nicki if ur nasty.
Actually, that would be Devi, the Hindu female divine, or Goddess:

If I wanted to be nasty, I would suggest Miss Nicki ought not to have changed her name.

Both the MBTI and the Enneagram are pretty awful at predicting what jobs will suit people, IMO. You'd have to be pretty vague about it, e.g. for 1w2 "something that they feel is morally right, useful, and a valuable use of their abilities -- ideally a 'calling' but not necessarily".

(Incidentally, the nonprofit I work for does focus on civil rights activism, among other things. Though my previous employer didn't at all.)

I agree. My job is the opposite of my type, though one could make a slippery argument it's related to my connection points. I ended up here incidentally and I doubt my future employment will be very related to my core either. At best it may reflect my cognitive preferences (at least such a job would be more stimulating).

I know it's all for fun, but I basically hate every job. I don't actually know WTF I'm supposed to do on this earth, but all "jobs" actually seem to get in the way of what I really want to do. Again, I don't know what that is. For now, I'm settled on being an unpaid writer and English teacher.

I would have shot someone by now if I was a cop. I'd end up arrested and all over CNN...not a good choice for me but, I think it is a good choice for our type.

I don't really know to much about the other types, as I just started Enneagram research. however I'm a 5w4, and I have many occupations, but my my main professional environment is hands down Manufacturing and Production of practically just about any field, and regardless of business size. I actually tend to feel like myself more at work in this type of field rather than any social situation. I find that there is always a system within the system for an overall system, and with freedom upon understanding to create your own strategy using all the various systems as if they were just check points, or a new puzzle to understand and add a unique little efficient touch to. It can be fast paced, and it can be relatively slow and steady... it just depends on how efficient you decide to get things done. Good money and long hours... I'm also an INTJ so honestly I don't have anything better to do other than spelunking, and various other hobbies and interests that I never expect people to understand, or partake in.

7w6 - multiple jobs.

I seriously can't see myself doing the same thing full time for an extended period of time.
