I think a very good way to explore enneagram issues is fiction. Not just by studying the types of the characters present in fiction but also studying the story, the writing style, the underlying themes the stoy wishes to convey and the struggles the characters in the story have to deal with.

  • What stories would you say capture your enneagram struggles well? Can you name any specific (favorite) titles?
  • What characters do you tend to identify with and why? Do you notice similarities between them and yourself?
  • What themes do you tend to be on the look out for when deciding whether to invest your time in fiction? Do you find that these themes reflect some or major portions of your mindset/outlook on life?
