Here are the demographics (according to the site below):

17%: 9
15%: 6
14%: 1
12%: 2 and 8
10%: 5
09%: 4
08%: 7
06%: 3

Gut center: 43%
Head center: 33%
Heart center: 27%

Controlled emotions: 37%
Turbulent emotions: 36%
Suppressed emotions: 30%

Anticipating behavior: 41%
Avoiding behavior: 36%
Pursuing behavior: 26%

It doesn't add up to 100% because the site only gave whole number percentages.

http://www.9types.com/writeup/enneagram_marriages.html

1: 54% male; 46% female
2: 83% female; 17% male
3: 55% male; 45% female
4: 67% female; 33% male
5: 79% male; 21% female
6: 55% female; 45% male
7: 50% male; 50% female
8: 71% male; 29% female
9: 58% male; 42% female

>How you feel less alone/more alone now.

Ummm, I didn't expect to feel alone as a 7  The semi-rareness surprises me.

>Why nature/natural selection/evolution would disperse the types like this.

Umm, I don't take personality type systems that seriously....

>The sad lack of enneagram statistics.

Yes, more stats are needed for sure.

>How this isn't as bad as MBTI demographics where there are nine times more ISFJs than INFJs.

You're sure they aren't nine times more common? But that's another story altogether...

I'm pretty sure 7 is actually common among ENTPs.

I know of several ENTP 7s besides yourself.

Oh I see now. They say there are less sevens than fours?

That can't be right.

Type 1s the third most common? That comes as a surprise to me. It seems to me like there are hardly any others. It doesn't make me feel less lonely because my experience and observation remain the same. Direct me to these hordes of 1s.

I don't think trying to fit this into natural selection is going to do any good.

Not enough reputable scholars are involved in this stuff for their to be a decent stock of research, therefore statistics.

The distribution in part doesn't have as much room to be as bad on account of there being fewer types. Other reasons I'm not sure of at the moment, I'd have to think about it.

LOL yep, I am aware by now that 7 is ridiculously common among them... it was purely about the stats here showing that 7 is the second rarest type overall. I don't buy it. (Also I was joking about how 7s, stereotypically, wouldn't be alone much ;) )

Yes, I'm sorry I posted that without fully paying attention.

I'm rarely fully paying attention. Unless I am.

I was just overclarifying there.... and no need to be sorry about less than full attention (I know all about that, lol)

(overclarification: I'm poking fun of my own inattentiveness, not yours)

Depending on your culture, certain enneatypes — or at least, enneagram behaviors — will be more encouraged or discouraged based on your social situation, sex, and so on.
