I just watched the first episode and can tell I will like this series?

Story takes place in NY, late 19th century, and follows the refreshingly creepy, obsessive and interesting alienist (psychologist) Lazlo Kreizler.

The use of iconography and overall presentation is quite compelling. I am curious to see where this will go! :D

I've watched two episodes, its good so far, I think I would give the novels a try having watched this. The very idea of these alienists and their theorising of alienation intrigues me.

I tend to think a lot of alienation, anomie, angst, estrangement, things of that kind, explicable philosophically or through existentialism or sociology, are instead reduced to labels, people are pathologised.

Although I know it simply means arcane psychiatry really.
