Troy Leavitt is a game developer and invited Anita Sarkeesian to debate him but as expected she ignored his requests. Liana Kerzner agreed to speak to him instead.

oh no not more gamergate stuff.

I'll be honest, I don't know too much about the whole gamergate thing, but I'm inclined to think the gamergaters were in the wrong, and it really is an issue of sexism. Everything the people in question went through seems a bit much considering the topic is flipping video games. I mean those people did receive death threats, didn't they?

Yeah, death threats + publishing their private personal information (like home address and phones) publicly so that these kinds of threats could be acted upon. Regardless of one's position on how women are treated in video games, it was pretty ugly stuff.

I think we can all agree there's no justification for death threats and doxxing.

Any actual thoughts on the discussion in the video? I wouldn't share a video on this topic by just anyone. I don't agree with Liana on everything but she actually knows the culture she's talking about. Beyond some youtubers, I don't think anyone has taken a serious look at Anita's Tropes vs. Women video series. Anyone calling her out for cherry picking and outright lying in her series is written off as a harasser. I think she is more likely to scare women away from the gaming industry yet she's hailed as a hero and invited to speak at the UN. She's just a new flavor of Jack Thompson.
