what songs have you heard wrong and one day found out you were hearing them wrong and the actual way made sense. so i'll start out with two

from The Rolling Stones-Paint it Black I heard: "I see a rental and I want it painted black
actual lyric: I see red door and I want it painted black

from Creedance Clearwater Rival-Bad Moon Rising. I heard" There's a bad moon on the right" actual lyric: There's a bad moon on the rise.

In Rock the Casbah by The Clash, I've always interpreted the chorus as "Rock your pants off."

And in Manfred Mann's Earth Band's Blinded by the Light, I always thought the singer sang "wrapped up like a douche and then roll her in the night." It's actually "revved up like a deuce, another runner in the night."

Pretty much every song by Creedence Clearwater Revival and Nirvana.

"Do I Wanna Know?" by Arctic Monkeys: actual lyric is "darling we both know," I thought it was "darling, quid pro quo"

"All That I'm Living For" by Evanescence: actual lyric is "although I wanted more," I thought it was "all that I want and more"

From Blondie's Heart of Glass:

lots of incoherent babbling, then I distinctly hear "Jewish lie" and I think she's an anti-semite :D

Turns out the lyric is: "Yeah, riding high on love's true bluish light"

The welcome comes.
Bring a friend.
It's fun to lose
And to pretend
She's overwrought
Self assured
Although I know
A dirty word.

We have a lifstyle
It sustains us
Here we are now
Entertain us.

I'm a lotto
And a bottle
I'm a ski-do
And a beatle.

Yay.

I wasn't what
I do best
To fool this kid
to feel the best
a little group it's always been
and always will until the end

And I forget
just why today-
oh yeah, I guess it makes me smile.
I found it hard
It's hard to find.
Where? Wherever.
Nevermind.

Up We Go by Lights

Heard: cause debt is harder to come by than it is to be
Correction: cause death is harder to come by than it is to breath

The best one ever though, was a friend of mine who had the Fresh Prince of Bel Air theme song wrong...

Heard: And I yelled to the cabbie, "Go home smell ya wiener."
Correction: And I yelled to the cabbie, "Yo Holmes smell ya later."

I was in the car with my step-daughter, years ago, when Alanis Morissette's You Oughta Know came on the radio. She was maybe 6 at the time. After holding completely still with a weird expression for a couple minutes, she was all, "What is she singing, about the cross-eyed bear?" Because "Of the cross I bear that you gave to me." And she asked it like, this is important, this woman understands, this could change everything.

(It still makes me laugh. I've totally been there myself.)

The song "Who Are You?" By The Who: I thought they were saying, "Ooooh Wally!" I discovered that was not the case when I sang along to it in my bf's car.. He still makes fun of me for that.

I have to ask, how did you mess that one up?

I can't be the only one who misheard this. It's her poor enunciation.

Yeah it is rather poor, especially the adorable illusion part but I can clearly hear her sing "bluish" and that's even before I glossed over the lyrics

Just remembered this song from the late 90s:

I thought the lyrics to the chorus were something like “I'm blue if I was green I would die," but it's actually:

"I'm blue da ba dee dabba da-ee
Dabba dee-a dabba da, da ba dee dabba da, da ba dee dabba da
Dabba dee-a dabba da, da ba dee dabba da, da ba dee dabba da"

Not as deep as I thought it was. :D
