I absolutely love this show. I used to wake up very early on Saturday mornings to watch reruns on the local channel. Even if you have no interest in painting, watching this show is incredibly soothing. Bob Ross was such a wonderful human being and the world needs more people like him. He would record entire seasons in 2 days using some of his completed paintings off-camera as references during the show so that he could go around travelling to teach others his technique. He absolutely loved to spread "the joy of painting" so I mean that title is absolutely a perfect fit. I'm not a painter, but it's so soothing just to watch him. I start off every morning nowadays with a cup of coffee and and episode of this show because it really sets the mood for my entire day. Start off your day with something serene and peaceful that makes you happy, and it seriously does affect your mood.

The best part is, you can now watch The Joy of Painting on youtube for free! The first 18 seasons have been uploaded and the channel (which is official so no need to worry about it getting taken down!) is uploading one new (old) episode every day!

The first season is known as "The Lost Season" but we now have availability to it thanks to this channel! Episodes are around a half hour long. The first season has this background music thing going on that they drop in later seasons.

Who else absolutely adores this show?

I've watched a couple of episodes - one involving a dolphin and one with a large tree. He almost makes me want to get some brushes and paint. I like the names of some of the paints: burnt sienna (oops, can't think of any other).
