The hook is that start of the story, the part that catches the readers attention and convinces them to keep reading. The Hook will always be a question that makes the reader wonder what happens next.

I feel like I don't have a great understanding of my parents and their life story. It leaves me wondering where I came from sometimes. So, for my kid, I want to leave something written down that explains more clearly who I am and where I came from, and my kid wouldn't have to wonder and guess. So, the start of my story should have a hook. I don't know what that is yet, but I'm working on it. Does anyone else here do this sort of thing? Did anyone ever write a hook for their life story? Did anyone else write their life story down for someone else?

My favorite hook was the opening for Farscape:

Who else likes the Farscape opening and agrees it is a great hook?
