By the way, underwaterthing and unsung

Listen to Parasite, and then listen to Subterranean Homesick Alien. Notice the similarities?

Yes. I don't have enough knowledge about music theory to aptly express it, but in both songs the main "riff" or whatever consists of the same chord being picked, but with a chromatically descending bass (I think).

Pretty obvious similarities now that you point it out. Haven't noticed earlier. It's even more apparent in the acoustic version of Subterranean Homesick Alien.

Keenly observed. :D

Might as well do my own rankings of Pink Moon, since it's in my top 5:

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaand another fav of mine, Fun House by The Stooges:

Rank the tracks on your favorite album from favorite to least favorite. If your favorite album isn't that well-known, rank the tracks on your favorite popular album too.

They do sound really similar - I could hear it almost immediately. I liked "Parasite" a lot and thought it had a timeless quality. I'll have to get over my tunnel vision for '90s and '00s music and check out more of Nick Drake's stuff.

Nice. I think "Doughnut Song" is sorely underrated by most Tori fans and IMHO is the most poignant, honest and emotionally nuanced song about rejection I've ever heard. I love your list, except for how low you ranked Father Lucifer and Talula (but of course, a song's value is subjective).

I love Tori's more recent stuff (both classical music and her more polished, poppy stuff like Abnormally Attracted to Sin), but I miss the rawness and magic of her 1st three (and to an extent, 1st five) albums. I think it's true that in general musicians tend to peak earlier than other types of artists.

Yup. Beautiful guitar picking. WHY ON EARTH WOULD YOU PLACE IT LAST :overreact:

Pink Moon is still an ace song. But given how solid the record is through and through, the competition is just real rough.

Oh, I know the guitar on it is brilliant. I just find his singing and lyrics sort of drab, and it also interrupts the line of all my favorite songs.

Still, there isn't actually a bad song on there.

The audacity.

How dare you have a different opinion?

Disrespectful punk. We can settle this, right now.

Ah.. :)... well, that's the thing about ranking songs on a really good album, all of which are pretty good... not all of the good ones can be high up!! But, yes, there can be a lot of subjectivity as well, personal preference.

I like some of her new songs, and am not that into other ones. I think her newer stuff is pretty hit or miss -- not as consistent.

Regarding Little Earthquakes and Under the Pink, I don't even want to try ranking them! There aren't many tracks to begin with, and I think both of those albums are solid.
