How would you describe Game of Thrones?

It's rather slow. I like when shit happens regularly (a la Prison Break).

Sex scenes with redheads are a much welcome bonus, though I prefer them more explicit (a la Spartacus).

The way I've described it to people is:

Part medieval low-fantasy; part fascinating, political intrigue; part soft porn.

I personally find the soft porn aspect to be distasteful and trashy, and wish it wasn't there (or that it was more subtle and classy). I don't mind sex and nudity in film and TV, but graphic sex scenes for no good reason is pretty weird and tends to take me out of the story.

I skip ahead most of those scenes, I dont think they add anything to the story or progress the plot along.

I think its courtly intrigue with dragons and sorcery.

Its basically just The Borgias with magic and dragons.

Yeah, exactly.

I don't even find them sexy. Maybe it's just that they're aimed more at the male demographic.

Granted, I haven't seen the whole series yet.

Completely agree. They feel very out of place with the story most times. Just unnecessary, and not adding anything of value to it (although I do like me some naked redheads ;) ).

As someone who's never watched the show or read the book, this is the impression I've formulated from everything I've picked up about it. It sounds like the show might as well have a running voice commentary track that accompanies each scene with statements like "Wasn't that badass?", "Oh, I totally went there", "I bet you didn't think it could get worse!", "Don't tell me you weren't shocked!".

As such, I don't really feel like seeing it.
