Aw, that's unfair -- the installments for 3, 6, and 7 wouldn't rate as forgettable, they're pretty decent. The others, though... ehhhhh...

I don't. The first one set the tone. It wasn't much of a critical darling and doesn't seem to have the buzz either. More like, "Oh god, more tolkien...well, okay."

I'll be interested to see what they do with Beorn, though, I guess. The bear, not the member.

They don't have to be forgettable movies, maybe so, but any reason will do. For example, wanting to see it done by a different director, composer, different actors, people from this forum, etc.

I'd agree with you but there are so many things that the movies didn't really get right. The first two movies were super boring.

That last bit's pretty true.

Also, as my point of disclosure, I only ever read 1.5 of the books, so I'm judging the movies on their own merits as movies, rather than how well (or not) they were adapted. I know a number of things were condensed/dropped/merged in the translation to screen (my son for example talks about how Luna was much more fleshed out in the books).

There were just some pretty powerful sequences in a few movies, such as the scrying pool in the last movie where Harry view Snape's memories. Moments like that will always linger with me.

As movies then, I'd agree with you. Definitely! Luna isn't just comic relief in the books, she actually gets angry a fair bit, especially at Hermione.

Those scenes were intense though I disliked how they weren't true to the books.
