Movies I hate include:
- Anything with Fast and the Furious in the title.
- Anything starring a musician who suddenly discovered his/her acting talent.
- Grease
- The Wizard of Oz -Water!? That's the best they could come up with ...
- The Grudge

Urgh... I had to sit through Fast and the Furious, and the Grudge with my mates. They were terrible! I didn't see the whole point of fast and the furious, it was all flash and no substance. The Grudge was just annoying, I don't like horror movies in general as most of them are far too cliche. The new ones especially rely more on pointless violence rather than suspence for the shock factor. Give me a hitchcock film anyday!

I need to rewatch Bladerunner. I actually own it but have only seen it once. I didn't think it was that great.

The director's cut is better, though Ridley Scott is a douche for changing the story and pretending he didn't.

That is very good taste for 1980-present. It seems that you have a particular affinity for movies set in dystopian near-futures.

Ya, that would be an accurate description. In general, I like movies that show the dangers of conformity/complacency to a corrupt system and then the struggle against that with a message that even in such a world, the actions of the individual can still make a difference. I also often feel that even though I benefit from a natural affinity with technology, that it is gradually destroying our humanity, so I also like movies that draw attention to the downsides of technological evolution in a subtle way that might make others question how we use it and how it is changing us as individuals and societies. Both of those tend to be represented to some degree in dystopian future movies so those type tend to come to mind first for favorite movies.

I've seen a couple people mention A Scanner Darkly, and thats one I've got somewhere in my netflix queue and bumped it up a bit higher after the comments here.

The other genres/types of movies I like a lot are dark/cynical comedies (Thank you for Smoking was an example of one of those that I really liked, and I also watched Grosse Pointe Blank not long ago and enjoyed that one as well), superhero movies (the X-men movies should be in my top list, can't believe I forgot those), and movies with a medieval or fantasy setting (Princess Bride).

Tenebrous, you might enjoy Southland Tales, the follow-up to Donnie Darko by Richard Kelly.

If I'm being honest, I found the movie to be a pile of dung, but it's got near-future dystopia coming out of the ass! :D

I've only seen the director's cut, and I was confused as heck. Kind of interesting to see how much of the new Battlestar Galactica is stolen from Bladerunner, though.

Like most things in life, I personally thought it should have been filled with Zombies and set on fire.
