I'm so pleased to see the love from multiple people for "Raising Arizona". Whenever I mention it I get blank looks. It's the funniest movie ever made, to my sensibility.

"Her womb was a rocky place where my seed could find no purchase."

That said, here's my list:

Contact
Office Space
Shawshank Redemption
Ruby in Paradise
The Princess Bride
Happy Accidents
Another Woman

That's really all there is. But if I have to round up:

Passionfish
The Sound of Music
Stealing Beauty

I shouldn't like these as much as I do but I can't help it:

Kill Bill
Shaun of the Dead
Planet Terror

Maybe it wasn't Arizona. Maybe it was Utah. :yim_rolling_on_the_

^I'm ashamed to say I haven't seen The Last Temp of Christ. I actually had it to checkout at Blockbuster recently but did a last minute switcharoo. I love Scorsese.

I mostly just watch and then forget. I don't consider myself a connoisseur. So my 10 are pretty much just fun movies (partly culled from previous lists).

Pulp Fiction
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
Grosse Pointe Blank
Platoon
Apocalypse Now
The Matrix
Mad Max
Dirty Harry
They Shoot Horses, Don't They?
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest

Simple enough, right? What are your Top 10 Greatest Films ever? Or (and this is a clear difference) what are your Top 10 Favorite Films ever? I could do both, but I will attempt an "objective" Top 10 Greatest. It's obviously fairly subjective, but I am shooting for a canon, not a love list. Ranked or unranked is fine; mine is simply alphabetical.

8 1/2
Chinatown
Citizen Kane
City Lights
The Godfather Pts. 1 and 2 (can't really separate them)
Grand Illusion
The Searchers
Seven Samurai
Ugetsu
Wild Strawberries

Just 10 of my favorites.

Mad Max
Bladerunner
Black Rain
Jamaica Inn (1939)
Modern Times
Girl Shy
His Girl Friday
Baby Face
Star Wars
The Narrow Margin

Do The Right Thing and Quiz Show are two great movies everyone seems to have forgotten about. Do The Right Thing is definitely Spike's best.

I hate "all time faves" lists. I like a lot of movies. I'm just going to list some of my top favorites.

Saving Private Ryan
The Band of Brothers Series
Pulp Fiction
Children of Men
Goodfellas
Casino
Taxi Driver
The Big Lebowski
Good Will Hunting
The Matrix
Fight Club

I think that Bamboozled is right up there with it, actually. Other than the crappy-looking DV and being maybe 15-20 minutes too long, that movie is fantastic. It's hilarious and it has perhaps his most coherent sociopolitical message. Savion Glover is awesome, and Michael Rappoport is one of my very favorite comedic character actors. And the montage of blacks in entertainment is just heartbreaking. It's not as raw and unsettling as Do the Right Thing, but it's criminally underappreciated.
