I'm loving how cinematic it is. More like an interactive movie than a video game. I wish I had a bigger sense of freedom given that the setting is so cool, but the story and graphics make up for that loss. I feel like you just have to change your expectations and treat it less like a game and more like a...well, interactive movie.

Anybody else want to weigh in?

PC version isn't out for another two weeks, but I might get this one on a steam sale.

I've been interested in it, because the first Max Payne was wonderful both in gameplay and in story presentation, with very good writing and if there's anyone who can really push that forward seamlessly it's Rockstar. I'm curious if the comic-noir feeling is amplified and maintained or if they've gone in a new creative direction. If the only "Max Payne" element to the game is the character name and bullet time, I don't know if it will really feel like Max Payne.

I've avoided reviews so I don't know what critics are saying. But if it's as close to being as good as Red Dead Redemption that's superb on Rockstar for revitalizing the franchise.

I didn't know this was already out for consoles.

That seems somewhat scandalous to me. Max Payne is a PC series.

I'm a jealous lover.

The physics/graphics look amazing. I really want to play this now.

I did not anticipate the third installment to Max Payne at all. Would've felt much better if they'd stopped at Max Payne 2 because I was getting tired of it but looking at how they'd delivered a whole new perspective to him in 3 with his new ragged look has me clung up with mixed reactions.

I'm nearly 26 years old and have not been satisfied as a young adult by any of the gaming titles on release in the past four years. They're wasting my time. Awesome graphics don't quite do for me if the gameplay fails to live up to my degree of genuineness.

I think I might buy Max Payne 3 because in the memory of following through the storyline in the first and second one to which I spent much emotion.

I'm assuming the new one is superior to Part II.
Because the last one nearly turned me off from the series altogether.

I didn't care for the first Max Payne as a video game, but I loved its cinematic potential. I thought it could've actually made a great movie, but it wasn't, aside from good casting of Mark Wahlberg as the titular character and the aesthetic that stayed true to the game. But the rest of it was crap.

I didn't play Max Payne 1, didn't like much playing Max Payne 2 and didn't finish it, but I would like to play Max Payne 3 just because the story happens in my city.

Sao Paulo?

That's fun. Never had a video game set in a city I lived in, but I like when movies are filmed in or nearby a city I've lived in.

Yeah, São Paulo! :D

I just hope the game includes some nice places of this city, like the old downtown (at day, because the night isn't very nice...) and Paulista Avenue. But what I see in the trailers is that the story happens mostly in shanty towns and in buildings - which is a little sad, because the players won't see the city's beauty, and I won't see places I know. But it's interesting, because then we can see a little of the disturbing social unequality we've got here, with great buildings, and very rich and very poor people living very close. And the violence. :/

Is crime and violence really bad there as compared to a major U.S. city do you know? Excuse my ignorant American self for not knowing :p

I picked the game up (first game I've bought in a long while) right before I ended up in the hospital.

Looking forward to finishing it when I get home (which should be tomorrow depending on the levels of CPK in my bloodstream).

Max payne 1 was a true masterpiece. Ahead of its time, classic.

I'm not the least interested in getting MP3 though. I have a feeling it will let me down like it did with MP2. :p

I didn't know how to answer and got curious, so I made a little google research. I found that there are even brazillian cities with more violence than São Paulo, which made me surprised. (I'm not proud of my ignorance about this either. xD)
Here are the 50 most violent cities in the world:
http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=303432

Brazil has many dangerous cities, like Maceió, Belém and Vitória, but none of these cities, nor any of the list, are in the state of São Paulo (there is also São Paulo city).
And there are dangerous U.S. cities, like New Orleans, Detroit and St. Louis, while São Paulo is not in the list.
So I guess that Brazil is, in general, more violent than the U.S., but not particularly São Paulo. Still, I think São Paulo is worse than New York in that subject.

Nice, I'm learning new things each day. xD
