just read Kingdom of Speech by Tom Wolfe.....beautiful takedown of Chomsky's linguistics as being mostly BS, as well as raising interesting questions into the development of science as we know it.....
“Orthodoxy means not thinking--not needing to think. Orthodoxy is unconsciousness.”
    ― George Orwell, 1984

“It is clear that thought is not free if the profession of certain opinions makes it impossible to earn a living. It is clear also that thought is not free if all the arguments on one side of a controversy are perpetually presented as attractively as possible, while the arguments on the other side can only be discovered by diligent search.”

That book starts out with a rabbit whose increased intellect allowed it to escape from a trap set by a hunter.

Hmmm, I don't think that would be possible. It's not intelligence a rabbit lacks, but brain structure. The book states that electrochemical energy in all brains became more energetic and can travel more quickly. Neurons recover a few milliseconds faster after firing. But in order for the rabbit to do what it did, it would have to grow a cerebral cortex.

I've just finished The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. I think that my knowledge about the Universe expanded.
