Defense of the Ancients (commonly known as DotA) is a custom scenario for the real-time strategy video game Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos and its expansion, Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne, based on the "Aeon of Strife" map for StarCraft.

I'm surprised a thread for this didn't exist already, especially with the upcoming release of DotA 2.

Been an active player since 2007, which is unusual; video games rarely hold my interest for long. DotA has insane replay value.

I used to play a quite a bit, moved to HoN since the controls of WC3 with DotA are annoying. I'll probably be trying DotA 2 when it comes out.

I hear DotA 2 is better than LoL. Personally I don't play either because SC2 is where it's at.

I know someone who bought a beta key off of someone on Craigslist. That might be an option for you if you're desperate enough.

I'm more desperate to get into the GW2 beta. As for Dota I'm sure I'll get a key somehow without shelling out cash....eventually, that is.
