Salome:
Morrigansalomebluemondaymorganlafey.jpg

Morrigan and Salome. As the story goes, Salome brought John the Baptists head to her mother by means of seduction. Arthurian Legend tells us that Morgan Le fay seduced Arthur and took his child to raise in secret till he was old enough to take Camelot for the both of them. Perhaps it was her namesakes that made me think of Morrigan from DA, a witch who at her mothers behest seduces the main character and takes his child to raise in secret. Of course the similar attitudes towards others may also have had something to do with as well.

Loving the new vanity search feature.

Salome got a bum rap. I blame Oscar. Like too many gay men, he had a poor opinion of women in general, but we forgive him because he was extraordinarily witty and entertaining.
Most of what we know about women that we have not acquired from direct experience has been mediated through the minds of men. Men who, by and large, understand what is hidden only in the light of what is revealed and in the light of their own bruised egos, ergo, who understand nothing. Even the stuff that women write about other women is too often informed by cultural misogyny.

I'd done it before
(and doubtless I'll do it again,
sooner or later)
woke up with a head on the pillow beside me -whose? -
what did it matter?
Good- looking, of course, dark hair, rather matted;
the reddish beard several shades lighter;
with very deep lines around the eyes,
from pain, I'd guess, maybe laughter;
and a beautiful crimson mouth that obviously knew
how to flatter...
which I kissed...
Colder than pewter.
Strange. What was his name? Peter?

Simon? Andrew? John? I knew I'd feel better
for tea, dry toast, no butter,
so rang for the maid.
And, indeed, her innocent clatter
of cups and plates,
her clearing of clutter,
her regional patter,
were just what I needed -
hungover and wrecked as I was from a night on the batter.

Never again!
I needed to clean up my act,
get fitter,
cut out the booze and the fags and the sex.
Yes. And as for the latter,
it was time to turf out the blighter,
the beater or biter,
who'd come like a lamb to the slaughter
to Salome's bed.

In tile mirror, I saw my eyes glitter.
I flung back the sticky red sheets,
and there, like I said -and ain't life a bitch -
was his head on a platter.

CuriousFeeling: The one and only Amélie Poulain. Sensitive, introspective, shy and bookish.

Heheh. We did an exercise at our MBTI debriefing at work where we were supposed to name a movie character that we feel we best relate to, personality-wise. I said Amelie for me. Which is interesting, because I see CuriousFeeling as a bit of a kindred spirit (though she is much more scientifically-minded than I).

Yes, I feel as if Aquarelle is a kindred spirit too. :) Even though I am more in the science discipline, the INFJness is still there.
Indeed I can see the connection between me and Amelie. Bookish, shy, sensitive, introspective... quadruple check.

The way you describe your feelings in the "What are you feeling right now?" thread reminds me quite a bit of the narrator's description of Amelie's emotional states. I will admit, though, that you seems healthier than her - she has quite a few issues with self-denial and living vicariously through her acquaintances. :yes:

I do have desires for those close to me to live out their potential and their dreams though. I'm not that great with self-promotion either, to be honest. But I prefer to keep a balance with things. I like to live out my dreams as well as having my acquaintances live out theirs. Trouble is, a lot of my dreams seem quite ambitious! LOL

Smileyman reminds me of agent AK47, because of his apparent flagrant sexual frustration and his chilly vocal resemblance to the character. I have a feeling that vent-trolling is not the only hobby he has.

Dude, I've loved Donald Duck since I was a little, little girl. I got a Donald Duck doll at Disney World when my grandfather took me after my grandmother died.

I always liked him better than Mickey who seemed like such an annoying goody-goody. Donald was more interesting to me.

And it's funny, cuz I see what you're getting at bro. LOL.

So I totally had to google Megumi Takani, but she seems pretty badass from the little Wikipedia article I read about her.

Also, I don't know about forum members, but I had a philosophy professor that was pretty much Gandalf.
