Guess this kinda makes you a e-dildo then.

Seriously technology can make the world better or worse. Change is inevitable. A positive change doesn’t happen without some underlying scrutiny.

And there should be. We all play an important role in our present, and we can all contribute criticism to construct a common consensus by which we measure many magnificent new manifestations of human ingenuity. Change may be inevitable, but the kind of change, the direction we steer it, is up to the people making the change.

To be honest I think this song sums up today's pop music very well. These songs are always about a bunch of losers who want to go partying in the weekend (and get drunk, but ReBla didn't mention that).

I'm not nearly as upset as I probably sound, just expressing mild annoyance.

Oh. Misread you, then... I typically don't refer to someone as "assholes" unless I'm pissed and think they really ARE assholes.

Well, if she starts singing about that and then getting knocked up by her fraternity-pledge boyfriend, I actually might think her parents are assholes.

Always interesting, though, to consider: Look at some of the teen stars (singers and actors) and what degree of influence/control their parents have. (Miley Cyrus, for example, whose dad thinks she is involved with adults who don't have her best interests at heart.) Katy Perry's dad is/was a minister, and she started in Christian music but made this large shift, and yet they still seem to have a good supportive relationship, yet she still probably sings about some things that would leave them uncomfortable. (Albeit, she's an adult now.)

People project their own interpretation of the word "party" and they can make it as negative as they want. My interpretation is that the word has so many meanings we can only consciously choose to feel offended by her choice of lyrics.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Party#Types_of_parties

Because almost anything that is enjoyable and involves more than 5 other people is, by definition, a party.

Every generation produces more music than the generation before it. The complexity of the music produced also increases by each successive generation. Your claim is silly, but there might be some truth to it. For just as complexity entails the profound, so to does it include the mediocre. Luckily, we all have our musical tastes, so we never have to settle for mediocrity. Would you presume that we would, in the future, fill our playlists with something we abhor? Of course we wouldn't.

There was a guy, he was known as Bear,
He got a call, from he knew not where,
It was the devil, he said "I'm mad, no shit..."
"I need to preach, will you be my advocate?"
Bear could not refuse, so he set to task,
Askin' all the questions, no one else would ask,
Proddin' people's minds, asking them to grow,
Even when they said, "Shut the fuck up Emo"
He did very well, as well as one Bear could,
Not for greater bad, but for the greater good.
The devil's advocate, and his loquacious ways,
Bringing perspective, to these myopic days.

It's my new song, auto-tuned and everything. Should go viral by next week.

I might throw a few verses of "........partyin', partyin'.......partyin',partyin'......" in there for good measure. I don't think they would be out of place because people just like verses about partyin'. Even in songs about Hiroshima or The Holocaust.

I finally was home and realized I hadn't watched this video.

Wow. I have never... seen anything like that.
(And I think her friends were wearing braces.)

You know what's sad? Her parents paid the film and auto-tune company that produced this short video, ARK Music Factory, roughly 2,000 USD.
Yup.

This thread needs parodies. I loved all three of these.

I will say, as stupid as the song is, it really does get stuck in your head.
