so
How objective are we to be in determining our 'favourite'. I think I spent the most amount of hours playing Morrowind, followed by Simcity (classic) when I was younger.

The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind. Is the best of all time. The countless hours I have spent on that game.
Deus Ex is a close runner-up. Cool plot, interesting characters. But I like the freedom and non-linear gameplay, developing your character in your own pace.

Needless to say I'm stoked for Skyrim. Oblivion was good but a dissappointment.

EDIT: Oh, and Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 + expansions.

EDIT 2: Maybe Silent Hill 2 as well?

I don't have that much experience, but there are a lot of them who are strong candidates.

For the Nintendo 64 (my first console), I'd nominate one of these:

* Super Mario 64
* Banjo-Kazooie and its sequel, Banjo-Tooie
* Donkey Kong 64
* Mario Party 2 (great to play with friends! :D)

We including computer games?

The only one I really play any more is Battlezone II: Combat Commander. I've got into playing PvP against my sons. Elder son has been working on game mods (new ships, buildings, and so forth) and getting them in the game. It's really quite a lot of fun, even if it is a decade-old game now.

This one is hard for me, so I think I'll pick a couple.
For computer I love The Longest Journey, and Dreamfall: The Longest Journey
For PS3, Uncharted 2 and Uncharted
For Wii, Zelda Twilight Princess
For any handheld, pokemon

Zelda Ocarina of Time (recently finished it again for the ##? time) and now I've nearly finished Majora's Mask again too.
I also like Windwaker.
Should probably get Wii and that Zelda, I guess.

Edit: Just finished Majora's Mask again. Anyone else here ever finished that game twice?
Saved the people from the falling moon so we should be safe now...
I have got to get the Wii Zelda asap.

In terms of sheer time played and fun factor, Warcraft 3 custom maps (they should just be called custom games or mods really). Which is slowly being replaced by Starcraft 2 custom maps, since they are the same in essence yet with improved technology behind them.

In terms of how far they dropped my jaw and made a lasting impression: Baldur's Gate 1, 2 & ToB. Closely followed by Arcanum, Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines, and Planescape: Torment. I guess Shadow of the Colossus may be there somewhere too and I'm sure if the modders finished adding the cut content to KotOR 2, that would be there as well.

I don't have lists for other forms of media, because it's much more difficult and varied, but in the case of video games I find a select few tend to stand far above the others.
