I have a feeling that No Country for Old Men or The Bourne Ultimatum will win in the Best Sound Mixing and Best Sound Editing categories.

The winner of Best Makeup will probably be La Vie en Rose, because it's a foreign film which I have never heard of.

And I really wish they would nominate five instead of three movies for Best Visual Effects, seeing how practically every movie these days has visual effects of some kind.

This is what I think will win, not what I think should win. I feel weird about this year, it's hard to pick winners...there aren't many runaway favorites. The only thing I'm sure of is that Javier Bardem is an absolute mortal lock for Best Supporting Actor. The hardest one for me to pick was animated feature. Persepolis and Ratatouille were both so amazing. In the end I picked Persepolis because it had a political dimension, and the voters love that.

I never quite understood the infatuation all the critics had with No Country For Old Men. I saw it twice and cannot say that I enjoyed it. The only scenes I enjoyed were those in which Anton was killing somebody. The rest seemed too dry.

Also, I think best actress should go to Ellen Page. She was really the only actress that stood out in my mind in the list. Her acting in Juno really made the movie. Alas, there is no chance that she will win. The academy just hands out Oscars by seniority. Bastards...

I agree, although I'm somewhat uninformed since I didn't see every performance. I loved her in "Hard Candy" and she was just as good in this. There is precedence for a younger actress winning though...Anna Paquin and Tatum O'Neal have won at 10 years old. And it's a weak crop this year, so although I didn't pick her I give her a shot.

I didn't realize Ellen Page was the girl in Hard Candy. It has been on my "to see" list for awhile but I'll have to bump it up since I liked her so much in Juno.

I have to say though, Julie Christie was haunting in "Away from Her." Ellen Page was cute, smart, sarcastic, etc., but I would guess she's probably pretty much like that IRL, so, the role probably wasn't that much of a stretch for her. I liked both performances, but I think Julie Christie is deserving of the win.
