Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy

The 1970s BBC / Paramount production of Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy is sublime especially the portrayal of George Smiley by Alec Guiness (INTJ). I have recently heard they are making a new film version with Gary Oldman playing George. I hope it's worthy of the original production, but I can't help thinking it is a mistake.
