I think soccer would be more exciting if the players had sticks that couldn't touch the ball but that they could hit each other with.

^^^But you realize there is an "offside zone" in football - it's called the opposing half.

Edit: @ Peace, Baby.

Brazil has this game. You know what sucks? They play with that much enthusiasm getting so far - but what are we to say when they end up losing eventually?

I always get scared of the highly skilled/finesse teams against Germany. They're very much a "system" team/defense and are thus weak to players who have a lot of individual skill that can create something out of nothing. If you're Germany, I think you have to go into this match thinking that you're going to concede 2 goals, so they better score 3.
+1
I'm for Germany as well. I agree with you JocktheMotie. Though in the match with England they used their new defence tactics taken from Ghana. They used strikers for defense. I remember one action with Podolski defending. And they are very much a teamy team so that could go around defense of Argentina. And English were also good individually - though I must admit a bit arrogant at the beginning (I mean their goal-keeper didn't care about the ball before Klosse put it in the net). Argentinians won't probably make the same mistake though.

Yeah, they finally fixed their greatest flaw. Teaming up with Russia? Italy? Austria-Hungary? Pfft.

Do any of these Japanese players play in the top European leagues? What about other top Asian players?

What's-his-name plays for some French team. I think.

Man, this game goes on and on. I missed half of it and it's still on.

Nein!

Srsly I can't stand him. Or most commentators tbh. (btw I didn't know he was commentating on the world cup. Fox Sports?)

You have to understand. I'm used to Marv Albert screaming "OOOOOOO FACIAL" whenever someone dunks on somebody in baseketball; Joe Buck, Joe Morgan, and Michael Kay sputtering out sentence fragments in baseball; and...Joe Buck again sputtering sentence fragments in american football.

Martin Tyler is poetry to me, by comparison.

Donna Cecilia must be pretty happy actually, as Uruguay also have been looking good. Surprisingly good really. We all know they ought to be rank outsiders... but can you ever write a team off who have already won the thing twice when they get a good team together again at last? They HAVE to believe they're in with a chance, I'm sure, and their self-belief is only likely to increase as they progress further. I wonder...

I am, for sure. :D

It´s great to see a team in which you can trust, at last.

To be honest, after being the 32nd team to enter the tournament, nobody here, both fans and media alike, thought they could get this far. It is a joyful surprise, for people to fall in love again with our national team.
