I would agree with this ONLY in the case of very extreme Christians who are 'in your face' about it. But then again, I'd say a lot of very extreme/militant atheists are just as annoying.

Leaving it just as Christianity in general thought seems rather broad.

I have some non-mainstream belief systems that came from reading books. Some of them have cult-like attitudes that I used to share, and it took me a while to mellow out somewhat.

Objectivists (fans of Ayn Rand's books): These people say everything you do, think, and feel is irrational, and irrational is bad. Only Ayn Rand is rational.

Libertarians (political party also associated with Ayn Rand): There was a joke about libertarians that I really liked. How many libertarians does it take to screw in a light bulb? None - the free market will take care of it. This is a legitimate grievance about how some libertarians, not all of them, avoid thinking too much about how some problem would be solved. (I tend to agree with 'the free market will take care of it,' but I understand that this isn't enough of an answer.)

I'm still an objectivist/libertarian/anarchist but I am aware of the cult-like mentality in those groups, and they can be annoying.

Somehow I ended up at a Tesla concert. 45 year old Tesla fans dressed like they're stuck in the 90's rabidly guarding my non-attempts to be in the very front is very annoying. Tesla, really?

I suppose Green Bay Packer fans are annoying when they put that big block of cheese on top of their heads. I still like the Packers as a team though and glad they won the Super Bowl.

I'm sure its already been listed, but Justin Bieber.

They showed the local IMAX on the local news last night. Hundreds of screaming early teen girls in line to see his 3D movie. OMG, thank god I don't have to deal with that as a parent.

Goddamn, the fans of Donnie Darko are some of the most annoying in the world. No, Donny Darko was not a "deep" film. It's standard scifi fare, and it ventures very close to cliche territory in many instances.

Fans of The Boondock Saints are equally as fucking annoying as Donnie Darko fans, if not more. At least Donnie Darko was watchable and halfway creative...Boondock Saints is like a five year-old's imitation of a Tarantino style film. A really stupid five year-old.

I have the same tendency to be easily repelled by overzealous supporters/haters, like the latest "Eat. Pray. Love." raucous.

I just make an effort to pay attention to what's actually repelling me so that in the future, once the furor has died down, I'm not so unreasonable as to not find out on my own what it was all about, but I must do so at a remove from the distracting, contemporary clamor.

A lot of the things listed here is stuff that I refused to participate in social discourse about, but later was swayed to appreciate or revile by my own volition.

Starship Troopers.. I've yet to see it. For some reason it's a well liked movie though. Not sure what it is that turns me off. I think it's because of Casper Van Dien and Denise Richards. I think if anyone likes a movie with them in it, something's wrong. They're worse than porn actors. Worse than the typical straight-to-video actor at least. Kind of a "Jeff Fahey" quality to them. Also, I like sci-fi a lot, but giant bugs are just lame. That has never been interesting.

My best girl friend was taking her 11 year old daughter and three of her friends. I told her.....in case you don't know, the Beib is in 3D.

I think she is still rocking in a corner sucking her thumb.
