Guilty pleasure of mine. John Mayer. I hate him as a person about as much as I love his music. Which is a lot.

I'll either get incredible giddy and happy, or depressingly sad and crushed by that song. And some other songs by her

I couldn't help myself. I found my "sad sappy sucker" playlist and had to post more videos most of them are on the folksy side.

How can a song about a girl dying from cancer not make you cry?

+1000000. Both songs merited a re-posting.

Also wanted to add two more I've been listening to A LOT lately. And yes, they have made me cry in the past, and if I had any tears in my tear ducts left, they'd still be making me cry right now.

A window to the soul

An old high-school friend posted this on my Facebook wall earlier in the year. I overanaylzed what it meant; hadn't heard from in 10-years. Wierd how I suddenly got choked up. The first part of the song was before my time (the stuff about Elvis and such), but then the song starts to make sense and it hits me in the heart, like I'm back in time, right there... good times.... good times...

Damien Rice - The Blower's Daughter

Lonely Soldier

Damien’s kind of a bastard for making me cry.

Also:

Puccini – Madame Butterfly

Elgar Cello Concerto, 1st mvmt

Vaughan Williams - The Lark Ascending
not really sad, just beautiful

Mahler - Symphony No. 5: Adagietto
probably the saddest piece ever written, with Barber’s Adagio a close runner-up

Beethoven - Piano Concerto n. 5, 2nd Movement

Rachmaninov - Piano Concerto n. 2,2nd Mvmt
I think the only piece to ever make me cry in public.
The whole concerto is just too bloody perfect.

...and lots more.

Many songs of Joanna Newsom... Here's one:

This might seem a bit strange, but... umm... yeah, this makes me cry almost everytime I listen to it.

...actually, I might have some weird identification with warriors. Here's another one.

And Lou Reed of course

Oh, yeah, this is funny, it's amazing how emotional it is being such a joke...

This song reminds me of my grandfather. It was played at his funeral, and is as far as I recall the only song that ever made me cry.

A book song must be the axe for the frozen sea inside us. - Franz Kafka :sartre:

The sharpest axes for me:

1. Bjork - "All Is Full of Love"

2. Radiohead - "Let Down"

3. Tori Amos - "Silent All These Years"

4. Bjork - "Undo"

Honorable Mention - Bjork - Sun in My Mouth

Pyramid Song - Radiohead

Dear Prudence - The Beatles

Maps - The Yeah Yeah Yeahs

Ugh I feel like there are so many. Totally blanking. Hopefully I'll think of more.
