I cannot reduce it to ten, and I know there are many I've forgotten from this list. I am sticking just with written works and not even really delving too far into TV/movies here...
So ten of my favorites (among many):
1. Linden Avery ("Chronicles of Thomas Covenant")
2. Arha/Tenar (Earthsea Trilogy)
3. Kitty Pryde (X-Men)
4. Q (ST:TNG)
5. Francine (Strangers in Paradise)
6. Cole Seer (The Sixth Sense)
7. Andy McGee (Firestarter)
8. Dianora (Tigana)
9. Roseanne
10. Nathan (A Single Broken Thread)

Bart: Wow, cool, God is so in your face!
Homer: Yeah, He's my favorite fictional character.
I not to sure what you mean by favourite, so i'm going to answer it as the 10 most interesting fictional characters -- IMO.
In no particular order.
Raskolnikov.
The gravedigger from Hamlet.
The idiot in King Lear.
Iago.
Alex DeLarge.
HAL 3000.
Cerpin Taxt.
Judge Holden.
Private Witt/Sgt.Walsh - To me they're two sides to the same coin, so im going to count them as one.
And probably God, or rather the concept of God -- I do think s/he/it is a human creation, but that isn't to say a god doesn't exist.Last edited by Cerpin_Taxt; 07-23-2007 at 12:52 AM. Reason: Mad Cow Disease
One by one, over the months, the other bulbs burn out, and are gone. The first few of these hit Byron hard. He's still a new arrival, still hasn't accepted his immortality. But on through the burning hours he starts to learn about the transience of others: learns that loving them while they're here becomes easier, and also more intense—to love as if each design-hour will be the last.
Thomas Pynchon - Gravity's Rainbow

1.) Reepicheep (I hope "people" isn't restricted to humanoids)
2.) Samwise Gamgee
3.) Puddleglum
4.) Lt. Columbo
5.) Hercule Poirot
6.) Alan Breck
7.) Prudence "Tuppence" Beresford
8.) Adrian Monk
9.) Elizabeth Bennet
10.) Robert Goren
I'm probably missing a bunch of good ones, but those came to mind first.“There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old’s life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.”
